Buena Park Police Department's Accreditation

CALEA Accreditation
~ The Gold Standard in Public Safety ~

On July 30, 2016, the Commission on Accreditation of Law Enforcement Agencies “CALEA,” awarded the Buena Park Police Department with the distinguished honor of accreditation, which is accomplished through a highly regarded and broadly recognized body of professional standards.

CALEA was created in 1979, when founding organizations of the International Association of Police, National Association of Black Law Enforcement Executives, National Sheriffs’ Association and the Police Executive Research Forum recognized a need within the law enforcement community to develop professional standards to enhance the delivery of police services.

Since 1979, CALEA has accredited over 1000 agencies who have demonstrated a commitment to professional excellence in policy and practice, and who are dedicated to strengthening crime prevention, formalizing essential management procedures, establishing fair and nondiscriminatory personnel practices, improving customer service, solidifying interagency cooperation and increasing community and staff confidence in the agency.

Along with being accredited, the Buena Park Police Department accepts the ongoing obligation to continue the quest for professional excellence and exemplify the best professional practices in the conduct of its responsibilities to the protection of the life, health, safety and rights of the City of Buena Park.
