Crime Watch is a segment of the Buena Park Cable Productions show featured on Channel 3 (in Buena Park, Fullerton and Placentia) and Channel 53 (in Buena Park only). Crime Watch keeps the viewing public up-to-date on what is going on at the Buena Park Police Department. Each month, the Department's Media Relations Sergeant, along with a Cameraman from the production company, goes out into the field and films while Buena Park Police Officers handle various calls. The film is later edited and developed into a Television show. During the show, the Press Information Officer is interviewed by the host and answers questions regarding the various crimes or activities as they are being shown to the viewer. The Press Information Officer also brings to the program realistic information regarding crime trends and crime prevention. There is also the “Buena Park’s Most Wanted” segment, which continues to be a popular feature on Crime Watch. In this segment, photos are shown of suspects who are wanted in connection with crimes in Buena Park and the public is asked to call the Department if they know the whereabouts of the person or have information which may help locate them. Citizens are never encouraged to take any action other than to call the Police Department. Also on the show are several services and programs of the Department which are featured to give the public valuable information. Many tips and other valuable information on how to avoid becoming victims of crime are provided to the viewer.
