I've
lived in Buena Park for the past 2 1/2 years at Lakeside and I am very
impressed by the Police presence here in the city. Thanks to all the
officers that are on the front line everyday, you all make this a
great city to live in.

I lived and worked in the orange county area and especially the Buena
Park area in the 70's. At that time it was a fast growing department
and one of the best in orange county.
From what I read this legacy has been passed on to the officers of
today. The residents of Buena Park can feel save and be proud of
your services and may God bless you.

Dear Officers of the Buena Park Police
Dept.:
I am a new resident
of Buena Park, and I wanted to let you know how impressed I am at
how well this city is protected by your police force. Although I am
new as resident, my extended family has lived here for over 30
years. I've always noticed how well the officers on the street are
seen, showing that this city and its police have no tolerance for
crime. I feel safe and comfortable living here, and I once again
want to thank you for your protection over all the residents of this
great city.

I grew up in Buena Park and it was
where my folks lived until they passed away, my mother very
recently. My mom, M. Juanita Pittillo, received recognition
from Buena Park P.D. many years ago for basically being a good
citizen and trying to help thwart petty crime, and she was always
very happy with the response she received when she called the front
desk (luckily, she was never put in a position to have to call
911 for police help).
Thank you for the good work you do.
You really are appreciated.

I appreciate the departments presents and quick
response to our community here at Summertree village. I feel
safer knowing your there to help. I hope we gain a victory in the
departments request for a much needed police station. Thank you Sgt.
Jones and p.o.p team for all your assistance.

Tony Kelly's article in Street Rodder
asked that those of us who have been injured in the line of duty
drop a note to those that are healing. He also went on to explain
how the most dangerous thing and officer does is operate a motor
vehicle.
I'm a retired undercover corporal from the Montgomery County Police
in Maryland and was severely injured and was subsequently retired on
disability after 22 years of service. I was also a hostage
negotiator for the last 8 years and worked under cover for about 11.
The department has about 1100 sworn plus civilian personnel. It
borders Wash.D.C. and Virginia.
I have to say that I'm one of those guys who loves retirement. I
not only own a '32 Ford highboy roadster but just purchased a boat.
I was very fortunate to have so many years on and was close to
retirement anyway. The officer who have a tough time leaving on
disability are those that don't have many years on.
My Dad was in the military and when he left he said it was
like having your hand in a bucket of water. When you pulled it out
no one could tell it was ever there. This is but a quarter of your
life and you can go on to do other wonderful things so hang in
there. If your banged up bad remember the whole world is open
to you especially with all the training..Take care.
PS There was NO attack on Washington DC.!! The Pentagon
is in Arlington Va. and the police and fire fighters there are not
getting the recognition they deserve. Kind of a pet peeve with us
locals.

I was down in your community in 1997
and was impressed with the amount of police activity in the area.
There always seemed to be a patrol car close at hand. I hope to be
in your area again soon and would like to stop in at the police
office. I'll bring some shoulder flashes down with me. I am a member
of the RCMP Auxiliary in British Columbia, Canada.

So far my experience here has been great! I do see a major B.P.P.D.
presence every time I leave home to take care of errands. It's great
to know we have guys like you on our front lines. Hats off to you all,
you do a fantastic job and you should all be commended. Too bad you
don't have the authority to band up the dope dealers, gang members,
drug users and all the rest of the bottom feeders and have them take a
long ride on a short pier.
Continue the great work! Joe Brito

I would like to thank Steve Yakubovsky for talking me on a ride
along...it was one of the best experiences of me life and I thank you
for that very much Steve. It has made my desire to become a cop even
greater. I hope to work at the Buena Park Police Station, and plain to
take some of the classe that you offer. I think you again for all the
work that you have done. And thank you Steve again for taking me and
helping learn much more of the job.

Hi, Tom from New Zealand here, great
site! I am a Police Officer here working in a Balclutha, small town
near the bottom of the South Island.
During May 2001 I stayed at Buena Park
on vacation with my wife-to-be (we got married in Las Vegas later
on) and I visited your Police Station - most impressed! From memory
Lt Natale was watch commander and I met Manny Martinez and Art Pegg.
I also went for a ride-along with Brad
Geyerand while there were some parallels withe policing in our two
countries it was evident you guys have more authority in some areas
i.e. dealing with parolees etc.
Well, all for now, thanks again to
all above (and others whose names I did not get) for their
hospitality, Tom Taylor, Officer TTH290.

Tony Kelly put out a good article on
one of the unexpected dangers you all face. Just a quick note to say we
appreciate your efforts and the comfort you provide. Best wishes to
those on the mend and to their families for a quick recovery.
I live in NJ but will look for a
review of the 6th annual cop shop car show in Street Rodder
magazine.

I live in Buena Park , and feel very safe there. I know a few of the
great officers we have and know they do a thankless job. I pray
every day I go to bed that I will never hear of a officer getting
hurt. He or she puts their life on the line every time they go
to work !! God please keep them safe for us and there families.
ALL I CAN SAY IS THANK YOU

I am so glad I found this web site. I know that the National
Police Memorial is coming up and if it hasn't hit home with everything
that has happened since September 11th, it does when you see all these
people morning the loss of a loved husband, friend or partner. As
an Officer's wife, I know I can fathom the loss, because you don't
ever want to think about it. I love this web site and for a
place to see others thoughts and feelings about our brothers in the
line of duty.

Officers of Buena Park Police
Department,
Today is the 6 month anniversary of the attacks on New York,
Washington, and Pennsylvania, or just The United States of America as
a whole. After I came home from a ceremony today I sat down at
my computer at home and I came across your site and you are selling
the bracelets and I just wanted to say THANK YOU for your support.
I'm glad to see that people are still remembering the fallen members
of the NYPD and FDNY and PAPD and all the others who were lost on
9/11/01. It's still hard to get over losing people that I
personally knew, but with everyone's support it's just a little
easier.
THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would like to take the time to thank
my fellow brother and sister officers from the Buena Park P.D. for
making the effort to create and distribute the NYPD and PAPD
memorial bracelets which will do well to raise money for the Widows
and Orphans fund. The gesture is touching and the bracelets will
serve to remind us of our great loss...our many friends and Heroes
of September 11, 2001.

I am a K-9 officer for the Jefferson County Public Schools in
Louisville Ky. I worked two of my bomb dogs in New York City W.T.C
area for FEMA for six weeks. During this time the strength of the NYPD
greatly impressed me. I made a lot of life long friends who are
Range instructors. They worked 12 to 16 hours a day on special details
at OEM (Office of Emergency Management). NYPD is and always will be
the best Police Dept on earth. I can say that because I saw them
at the worst time of their history, and they were standing tall as
they are today. The FDNY is also the finest on earth. They took a huge
hit, and never stopped for a second.
God bless them all and their families.

Debra is the wife of a NYC police Sgt. and mom of two little girls.
She perished in the WTC on 9/11 ~ working only two days a wk. while
Dad was off and able to watch the two little girls. We must
remember that all who perished that day are fallen heroes; whether
they are police officers, firefighters, moms, dads, brothers, sisters,
they were all doing their jobs and are all heroes.

Howdy. I am a Buena Park native who spent a lot of time at Station 23
in my childhood as a guest of the late, great Jack Spero. We lived
across the street from the Speros and the McNeillys, and not far from
the Potters. What a great city to grow up in. I remember Off.
McCay coming to our classrooms at Emery School in the early '70s. As a
radio communications expert I've had an opportunity to observe quite a
few LE agencies, and Buena Park PD stands head and shoulders above the
rest as true professionals. Keep up the great work!
