Support Unit

The civilian Records Supervisor of the Support Unit is responsible for the 24-hour operation of eight unique and distinct areas within the police department, including: Records, Optical Imaging, Report Transcription, Court Liaison, Purchasing, Property and Evidence, Custodial Services and Building Maintenance. This position directs and coordinates the daily activities of approximately 20 full-time and part- time employees.

The Support Unit Supervisor also researches, prepares, and verifies crime and statistical data for the State Bureau of Criminal Statistics, Federal Bureau of Investigation, and departmental management reports.

The Support Unit Supervisor is also responsible for the overall security, release, and dissemination of police records as well as preparing administrative reports, evaluating employees, approving purchase requests, supervising custodial services and building maintenance, and overseeing a myriad of other duties.
